 The SUG Industry Report

Thank you SusQtech!   As many of you know - we held our first annual SharePoint.org User Conference this week in Baltimore.  Today is my first day back to the office, and I can already tell you that the conference was a huge success.  I received my first email last night before I got home from a happy conference attendee, and today the positive emails and calls are pouring in (thanks for the boost of energy everyone!).   To the point:  I owe a HUGE THANK YOU to the SusQtech staff who helped pull this off.  Everyone, and I mean everyone, played a tremendous part in this - (especially those who stayed behind to support our customers!).   The event went off without a hitch - we ended up with around 180 registered attendees and around 200 people in attendance- the on-site food was good, our off-site dinner was awesome (loved those meatballs) and of course the venue was very "cool" (did everyone get to see the Oriental Roo...

Today's topic is Microsoft Exchange Online. I've been using the Exchange Online Beta for a good while now, and it is great! I love everything from the super simple web based interface to managing accounts and settings to the fact that it includes full spam filtering and virus scanning. Exchange Online comes in two flavors (for now): Exchange Online Standard and Exchange Online Deskless. While the Exchange Online Deskless may be perfect for some folks, I am addicted to using Outlook 2007 so Exchange Online Standard is the absolute minimum for me. So, what is so special about Exchange Online? First, I don't have to manage Exchange Server. Most of the clients that I work with have IT departments. However, the folks that work in the IT department have much better things to do than to manage Exchange as a full time job.
