MOSS Gathers no Rolling Stones

SharePoint Theme Park

Our MOSS 2007 house has its foundation. It hasĀ a roof and all of its walls, interior and exterior, are up. Now for the paint job! Branding?

What an absolute rollercoaster ride figuring out how to brand our site with one logo and 4 primary colors! Do it this way, don't touch this file, after you're done you'll need to do this and if that doesn't work, you'll need to do this instead. Not ideal. Not unusual, but not ideal.

We are finally getting it under control, thanks to old fashioned "Computer Guy persistence."

We've opted to use the web tools in FireFox to identify the style calls and paths to images. We then use SPDesigner to make the change. Once we have the changes we will use a server sided tool to apply the theme to the entire site. This tool will apply to Team sites, Publishing sites, etc.

We've been all over the Internet, reading and discussing this process. It seems we are not alone.

We'd love to here from others on how they handled this process.

Didn't say it would be easy, but did say it would be worth it.
